Arrest of Roman Ż. in the zondacrypto case
Authorities have arrested Roman Ż. in connection with the zondacrypto scandal. The man, a former partner of Sławomir Suszek at BitBay, is accused of fraud amounting to 14 million zlotys. The arrest took place in the Silesian Voivodeship, where valuable watches and documentation related to zondacrypto were secured. The actions of the authorities were commissioned by the Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, and concerns about Ż.'s potential flight from the country expedited the intervention. Roman Ż. is known in the Silesian underworld, having been accused since 2019 of leading an organized crime group and laundering 28 million zlotys through BitBay. In the past, he was involved in various illegal activities, including introducing counterfeit money. Ż. was said to be the fourth partner at BitBay, and his role in the zondacrypto case was significant, especially in the context of the disappearance of Sylwester Suszek. Ż. and Suszek jointly purchased a luxury villa in Spain. Suszek's family accused Ż. of stealing 14 million zlotys, and before Suszek's disappearance, he had reportedly abandoned the idea of having Ż. become the godfather of his son.
