Bitcoin and Gold Correlation Hits Six-Year High, Impact of Dollar Weakness

By: www.tokenpost.kr|2026/09/04 15:22:45

The three-month rolling correlation between Bitcoin (BTC) and gold has reached its highest level since 2020. Bitwise stated that this trend is related to the weakness of the dollar and concerns about falling long-term interest rates. Gold is a traditional store of value, while BTC is a highly volatile emerging asset. However, when macroeconomic uncertainties increase, investors tend to look at both assets together. According to The Block, the 90-day Pearson correlation coefficient between BTC and gold has reached an all-time high, and the net inflow into Bitcoin ETFs is reported to be around $1 billion. The U.S. Treasury has decided to increase the liquidity support buyback size in the 10 to 30-year range from the previous $2 billion to at least $4 billion. This measure is interpreted as a signal for suppressing long-term interest rates and easing liquidity. Quartz reported that the U.S. Treasury's expansion of long-term purchases and the dollar's weakness are catalysts for the simultaneous rise of BTC and gold. The price figures show gold at $4,469.26 and BTC at $79,411. The XAU/BTC ratio has dropped to 0.05496, indicating that BTC has risen faster than gold. This trend shows that both assets are being recognized as hedges against dollar weakness. However, concluding that BTC has established itself as a safe-haven asset like gold is a separate issue.
