BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF regains weekly options expiries
MIAX has restored short-term expiries for options on BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) on Mondays and Wednesdays after removing it from the Q3 roster. The ETF will be listed under a new Tier 2 framework starting August 18, 2026, with expirations set for August 19, 24, 26, and 31. IBIT had previously been part of MIAX's January 2026 roster and was eligible in Q2 before its removal on July 1. BlackRock's data indicates IBIT had net assets of approximately 43.23 billion dollars as of June 30, below the former 50 billion dollar threshold but above the new 25 billion dollar requirement. MIAX's new Tier 2 framework reduces the asset threshold and allows for Monday and Wednesday expiries, while Tier 1 maintains stricter criteria. Both tiers require a position limit of at least 250,000 contracts. The changes were filed on August 13, 2026, with the SEC waiving the usual 30-day delay, making it effective immediately. The new expiries do not create daily options but allow for a maximum of two expirations each on Mondays and Wednesdays.
