Father-in-law of Carlos Palacios arrested for drug trafficking in Chile

Sebastián Soto Guerra, father-in-law of Carlos Palacios and alleged leader of the drug trafficking organization 'Los Pájaros de La Legua', was arrested in Santiago, Chile, with approximately 70 kilograms of cocaine seized from two residences in La Florida. The operation was part of an investigation into a gang dedicated to the storage, distribution, and sale of drugs in the Chilean capital. Guerra was driving a car registered in the name of the Boca player during an operation by the Anti-Narcotics Brigade and the Metropolitan South Prosecutor's Office. Authorities seized illegal substances, weapons, cash, and the footballer's vehicle, which was used by his father-in-law to transport drugs. A home linked to Palacios' family was also raided, where drugs and two firearms were found. The Prosecutor's Office is investigating why the assets related to the player were in the possession of the accused. Soto Guerra, 33, was one of the main targets of the investigation. The appearance of Palacios' car led investigators to analyze whether the footballer was aware of the use of those assets. So far, Palacios has not been arrested or charged, and there is no public evidence linking him directly to the drugs or the organization. Authorities are trying to establish how the car came into Soto Guerra's possession and whether the player was aware of his father-in-law's activities. Palacios remains in Argentina with the Boca squad and has not made any statements regarding the operation in Chile.
