FTX to distribute 900 million dollars to creditors in fifth payout wave

FTX will begin distributing approximately 900 million dollars to creditors starting July 31. This is the fifth distribution as part of its bankruptcy proceedings. In March, FTX distributed 2.2 billion dollars to creditors, and since repayments began in 2025, nearly 10 billion dollars have been distributed to creditors and other claimants. Eligible recipients from the company's Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan's Convenience and Non-Convenience classes are expected to receive their funds within three business days, with payouts managed by BitGo, Kraken, or Payoneer. The convenience class includes retail traders and smaller creditors, while the non-convenience class involves larger or more complex claims. FTX's bankruptcy estate has aimed to repay retail creditors between 118% and 142% above the value of their holdings at the time of the exchange's collapse in 2022, although it has faced criticism for not repaying assets in kind. In May, Fenwick & West, FTX US's principal outside counsel before the collapse, agreed to pay 54 million dollars to settle claims related to enabling fraud by Sam Bankman-Fried.
