Hacker Flaunts Wealth, Reveals Identity, Previously Stole Over $40 Million in On-chain Assets from US Government
BlockBeats News, January 26th, on-chain sleuth ZachXBT revealed how hacker John Daghita (alias Lick) stole over $40 million from a U.S. government-seized address (including a single largest transaction of $24.9 million). John's father owns CMDSS company, which currently holds a valid government IT contract in Virginia, assisting the U.S. Marshals Service in managing and disposing of law enforcement-acquired crypto assets. ZachXBT speculated that John gained access from his father and completed the theft of over $40 million from the U.S. government address around 2024, with the largest amount being $24.9 million seized in March 2024 from the U.S. government's funds recovered from the Bitfinex hack. Additionally, John's addresses have been linked to over $90 million in on-chain stolen funds (including non-U.S. government victims).
Following ZachXBT's exposure, CMDSS company's X account, website, and LinkedIn were all deactivated today.
The reason for John Daghita's identity disclosure was his recent flaunting of wealth in a group chat with another hacker Dritan Kapplani Jr., where they engaged in a show-off competition, sharing their Exodus wallets and transferring funds to prove their wealth. The entire process was recorded in two videos, and the flaunting wallet address is linked to the March 2024 theft of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation's on-chain seized assets.
