JPYC, a Yen-Linked Stablecoin, Raises $38 Million in Series B to Expand Domestic Payment Network
JPYC Achieves Total of 6 Billion Yen in Series B Funding
JPYC, a registered operator of a yen-linked stablecoin, has completed additional fundraising in its Series B round.
With this funding boost, the total amount raised in this round has expanded to approximately 6 billion yen. The funds will be used to strengthen the infrastructure to accelerate the penetration of domestic stablecoins in the financial sector and Web3 environment. As a new investor, domestic logistics giant AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings has joined the round. This marks an increase of 1 billion yen from the previously announced 5 billion yen in May, and through collaboration with major business groups, it is expected to enhance the trust in regulatory-compliant digital currencies and develop usage scenarios in Japan.
From Speculation to Practical Payments: Integration with Logistics Networks
The most significant feature of this collaboration is its focus on building payment infrastructure in actual industrial settings, rather than being limited to speculative uses such as cryptocurrency trading.
The AZ-COM Maruwa Group has a network of about 2,300 companies, including delivery partners and contractors, and aims to introduce stablecoins for various payments to these businesses and their employees.
By realizing "on-chain finance" that closely integrates commercial flow, logistics, and financial payments on the blockchain, continuous and practical demand will be created for daily settlements of receivables and payables between companies, as well as payroll payments. The increase in the number of users and remittance amounts will also support this shift from a traditional exchange-led market to a sustainable network rooted in business activities.
Towards Next-Generation Infrastructure Supporting Japan's Digital Economy
In the domestic stablecoin market, related initiatives such as SBI's "JPYSC" are also gaining traction, and the entire ecosystem compliant with regulations is steadily maturing.
Currently, JPYC's on-chain circulation scale is approximately $18.5 million (2.93 billion yen), but with the entry of major companies and backing from institutional investors, its practicality as a payment method is further increasing.
As a business-driven utilization base that is not influenced by the volatility of speculative purposes is formed, yen-denominated stablecoins are expected to play a central role in Japan's digital payment sector, with anticipation for future advancements.
