Saudi Defense Minister Visits U.S. to Seek De-escalation of Tensions with Iran
Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman met with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington on July 29, expressing that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is interested in easing tensions with Iran. Khalid pointed out that attacks by Iran-aligned militia groups on Saudi infrastructure have crossed a red line, and Saudi Arabia must respond. He also stated that Saudi Arabia is capable of dealing with the Houthi movement in Yemen and currently does not require U.S. intervention, as negotiations are ongoing with the Houthis.
