Traders Increase Bets on Bitcoin Falling to $52,000
Demand for put options on Bitcoin has significantly increased, with traders actively purchasing contracts with near-term expirations, anticipating a price drop to $52,000. Over the past two days, there have been active purchases of put options expiring between June 22 and July 31 on the Deribit exchange, indicating caution among market participants. Traders prefer short contracts, suggesting a likelihood of a rapid price decline. A Bitcoin option grants the right to buy or sell Bitcoin at a predetermined price but does not obligate the holder to do so. In the current market activity, Deribit plays a crucial role, where large purchases of short put options have taken place. The main factors pressuring the market include the Federal Reserve's tight policy, a strong dollar, and outflows from Bitcoin exchange-traded funds. Active purchases of put options do not guarantee a price drop but indicate that some market participants are preparing for a negative scenario, focusing on the level around $52,000.
