The U.S. Department of Defense has stated that the restrictions on the artificial intelligence company Anthropic remain in effect, contradicting U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo's earlier claim that the two sides had resolved their differences. Emil Michael, the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, posted on social media that Anthropic is still considered a "supply chain risk." Raimondo had previously stated that Anthropic had resolved long-standing issues with the Trump administration and noted improvements in the company's relationship with the government. Anthropic faced related restrictions due to government concerns that its models could be misused for cyberattack capabilities and other issues.
