Zcash NU7 Voting to Start on August 25

The Zcash community has announced the schedule for the coin ownership voting for the NU7 upgrade. ZEC holders will have the right to vote with a snapshot taken at block 3,459,350. The snapshot is expected to be taken around 22:20 Turkey time on August 24, 2026. Voting will begin on August 25 and will end on September 14 at 22:00 Turkey time. A suitable ZEC balance must be held within Ironwood. Coins in the Orchard, Sapling, or Sprout pools will not be included in the voting. The voting ballot will cover topics such as the rate of new ZEC production entering circulation, the return of disabled ZEC amounts, and the closure date of old Sprout transactions. The voting system uses homomorphic encryption to keep individual preferences confidential. Votes are processed in 16 separate pieces to obtain aggregated results.
