Proof of History (PoH)
Proof of History (PoH) is a consensus mechanism used by Solana to create a verifiable order of events or transactions before they are processed. PoH provides a timestamp for each transaction, enabling Solana to achieve high scalability and fast transaction speeds. This method reduces the amount of communication needed between nodes to verify the order of transactions, making the network more efficient. PoH is used in combination with Proof of Stake (PoS) in Solana's consensus model. Example: Solana can process thousands of transactions per second by using PoH to streamline the validation process, significantly reducing block times.
