Case of 46.7 million UAH Theft for Electricity Supply to the Armed Forces Transferred to Court
A case regarding a scheme for purchasing electricity for military units in Kyiv and Odesa has been transferred to court. The artificial price increase caused a budget loss of 46.7 million UAH, of which 17.3 million UAH has already been returned. From 2021 to 2024, a private enterprise supplied electricity to military facilities of the Odesa Housing and Utilities Department and the Kyiv Housing and Utilities Administration. The company's director, in collusion with the heads of military units, signed additional agreements, systematically raising the cost of the resource without market justification, leading to a price increase of more than 10%. Military units paid for electricity at inflated rates, and the enterprise illegally appropriated 46.7 million UAH of budget funds. A former official who headed the Odesa Housing and Utilities and Kyiv Housing and Utilities signed agreements without verifying their legality. During the pre-trial investigation, 17.3 million UAH of overpayment under the contract with the Odesa Housing and Utilities was recovered. The actions of the company's director have been classified under part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, while the former military official is charged under parts 2 and 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
